The “skinny” aka scoop on WIMBB (What’s In My Beach Bag”
The skinny (aka the scoop) on all things fashion, fun and funny, full of life, love and laughter, and anything else that’s fabulous! After six years in fashion as a personal stylist / wardrobe consultant, I am finally taking the time to document my journey and share fashion secrets and inspirational photos with you. So thank you to all my fans, family and friends for repeatedly asking me to start up a blog. Hope everyone enjoys the “Skinny in Heels”!
This first post covers ALL things that you definitely want to take on your next vacation getaway – preferably to a tropical locale . . . somewhere where you can unplug and truly enjoy the sun, sand and rejuvenate your soul.
But, in order to truly enjoy your vacay, we all know the process begins by packing the correct things, specifically what goes in your beach bag. So here’s my first edition of “What’s In My Bag” #WIMB (better yet, what’s in my beach bag).
First and foremost, make sure you have a versatile bag! I personally love the Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Metropolitote 48’ Perforated Leather tote, as the price is right. Black is one of my favorite colors, so I chose black. But it is also available in red, pink and navy. I treated my bag with a water-resistent leather spray so I could rinse it out to remove any sand. This bag also comes with an attached clutch inside to store you secure belongings. And the best news- it’s currently on sale now at 30% off! Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Metropolitote 48’
Speaking of securing your belongings, do you see the clear pouch that is around my iPhone? This is by aLOKSAK and it is “clearly” one of the best inventions ever. It provides 100% protection from water, humidity, sand and snow. And the most amazing part– you can make and receive calls and texts while your phone is in this pouch. I will never go on vacation without one…it’s truly genius! aLOKSAK
Next order of business – we have to protect our face! Who doesn’t LOVE a floppy, oversized hat? On this day I chose a neutral colored hat so it would compliment my colorful caftan without competed with the print. The selection of hats is great at several different retailers, be it Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, or smaller boutiques . . . but when it comes to hats, my first go-to shop is “Everything But Water”. And here’s a little side note: they actually have floppy hats that are adjustable on the inside for anyone who has a smaller head. That’s really important, because you do not want the hat to be too big or too small. Your hat is THE accessory on the beach, so the fit needs to be on point. Hats, Hats, Hats!
And now for skin care. I have four go-to products that I’m absolutely obsessed with!
1) Chantecaille Pure Rosewater mist. In a nutshell, it’s a drink of water for you skin. It smells amazing, 100% natural, and you can even layer this on your face over makeup. Spray two/three times for moisture or amp up the look with a sassy “dewy” glow; simply spray four/five times. It will not mess up your makeup; it will simply give you an effortless, healthy glow! AMAZING, really. And to be perfectly honest, I literally just sprayed my face right now with the rosewater mist while I’m typing this blog post. Chantecaille Pure Rosewater
2) La Mer – SPF 30 UV Protecting Fluid. Wear this daily or definitely when you are at the beach. This is the BEST sunscreen I have ever tried. It’s super lightweight, does not discolor your skin (after all, who wants to look like a ghost after applying sunscreen), and it can be worn under makeup or solo. I have very sensitive skin, and this sunscreen takes the cake in my book. La Mer – SPF 30 UV
3) Natura Bissé C+C Vitamin Splash Revitalizing Spray. If you haven’t noticed, I love sprays (easy is always best in my book). And on that note, if you haven’t heard of the Natura Bissé cosmetic line, you are truly missing out! Nearly 90% of red-carpet celebrities swear by Natura Bissé. And even the celebrities that are endorsed by particular cosmetic lines (be it Lançome, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Tom Ford), still incorporate their go-to faves from Natura Bissé into their daily skin-care regiment. This C+C Vitamin Splash does exactly what it says- revitalizes. It has an energizing citric smell, (I’m a sucker for products that smell amazing), is refreshing and also provides moisture. It will instantly soothe, tone and decongest your skin, and we could all use that after day in the sun, right? Yes please! Natura Bissé C+C Vitamin Splash
4) Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm. Now THIS, my friends, is my secret weapon! Every single one of my clients owns this item (and we usually purchase three at a time, because it really is that AWESOME)! This lip balm is sheer, so it works for everyone. It feels like chapstick when you put it on, but here’s the kicker – this lip balm responds to the color chemistry of your own lips to create a shade that is uniquely yours. In other words, if your lips were at 100% moisture, after you apply Dior Glow, your lips with exude a natural glow. When I wear Dior Glow, my lips turn a soft, natural pink (as shown in both pictures of me here). At the same time, I have clients whose lips will turn a subtle mauve color or a soft coral; again, it all depends on your skin tone. No words truly do this product justice. Dior Glow
And that pretty much sums it up. Hope this post helps you be beach-ready for your next tropical getaway. Cheers to you and yours! Hope you have an amazing day. Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather! Next stop, brunch with my best friend. I’ll be sure to do another post tomorrow.
